FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS…

RGB TO CMYK - WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN?

Colour is important for any print material and unfortunately it is where the biggest problems occur in print production. Here are a few pointers to help you know your CMYK from your RGB…

RGB- – RED,GREEN,BLUE is a web colour code and will not print.

CMYK – CYAN, MAGENTA, YELLOW, BLACK is a print colour code and will print.

Most files are set-up in RGB for the web, so when you go to print your materials it is important to convert your files to CMYK.

Another colour process employed by printers is Pantone Spot colours, these are colours specifically created using an international colour library. Spot colours are commonly used for logo’s and corporate identity as part of your branding structure. It is important when creating files using spot colours to only have these colours in your files, e.g no additional obselete colours. Spot colours can be converted to CMYK easily and this is necessary when printing a Trico.

Hopefully you will now be familiar with the colour principals of print and if you have anymore questions please give us a call we would be happy to assist.
